Mobile Food Day #9(Indoor)
City-Wide (All Zip Codes)
Grace United Methodist Church
Thursday, November 29, 2018, 9:00 a.m., the ninth Mobile Food Day served all Dayton neighborhoods (all zip codes within the City and Montgomery County).
The registration time for clients was scheduled at 9:00 a.m. Registration included residents completing the forms for the area Dayton Food Bank. This was the third Mobile Food Day event to be held inside a church location.
Our continued goal for this project is to address the growing need of community residents who have no ability to shop for fresh fruit and vegetables from local area markets in their immediate neighborhood. The Dayton Food Bank Mobile Truck provided free produce, fruit, and bread products to clients who registered with the local food bank. The final event for 2018 will be on December 20, 2018, Dakota Center, Inc. 33 Barnett Street (10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon).
The Dayton Neighborhood Corps (Department of Planning & Community Development/U.D.) was responsible for the recruitment of volunteers including members from other community churches in Residence Park neighborhood. Other volunteers were members of the Residence Park neighborhood association, City of Dayton Community Development staff, Dayton Neighborhood Corps, and staff from the Dakota Center, Inc.
