To garden is physical work, but it is through this physical process that we can reconnect with the nature, the soil, and the rhythms of the seasons. It is an act that provides spiritual and emotional nourishment. Spring is the perfect time to introduce more growing into your life even during this time of pandemic.
The Dakota Center remains Homefull’s seed room and the birth of all the produce that will be grown this season. Yes, we are practicing all sanitary protocols and social distancing, however, these seeds are important for tomorrow. Tomorrow will come and the need to feed the hungry with it. With the weather warming up many of these seedlings will be going to various community garden sites (including our own here at the center). They will grow into the produce we will harvest and then distribute to those living in this food dessert called West Dayton.
It is in these seedlings that we look toward the future with hope for a brighter tomorrow. Just another way the center is building character and connecting community even during a worldwide pandemic. Take care, be well, and stay home! The plants will be ok and we pray you are also.
