HAPPY EASTER

With the Golden Age Senior Program back in full swing and in anticipation of our after school kiddos returning, the Center expanded its hours from 10a-2p to 10a-5p. We also began renting out the facility, on Saturday only, to <50 size groups. We began planning our Summer Block Party concept. We are not offering the traditional summer enrichment camp this year. Instead we are going to focus on bring together the community. Our concept is to offer food and beverage, entertainment (DJ, games, etc) and create interest in the fall enrollment period for our after school program. Most of all we want to create a safe environment for limited social interaction.

More than 42% of people surveyed by the US Census Bureau in December reported symptoms of anxiety or depression, an increase from 11% the previous year. Studies and surveys conducted so far in the pandemic consistently show that young people, rather than older people, are most vulnerable to increased psychological distress, perhaps because their need for social interactions are stronger. Data also suggest that young women are more vulnerable than young men, and people with young children, or a previously diagnosed psychiatric disorder, are at particularly high risk for mental-health problems.

It is time for a party to lift everyone’s’ mood. The Center is committed to creating positive life events for the most vulnerable population to remain socially active in a safe, secure environment they can trust. Until then we wish you a Happy Easter!!
