Get on the Bus Fundraiser

Still time to contribute to making this a reality!!

Last October the Center launched a fundraising campaign titled “Get on the Bus.” Its goal was to raise funds to purchase a 21-passenger plus driver mini-bus. As of January 31, 2022, we have raised almost $60,000!

Because of the tremendous outpouring of support, we are making one last push to reach out. If you are interested in donating you can send a check made out to The Dakota Center and address the envelope to Mike Miller c/o Get on the Bus, 33 Barnett St., Dayton, OH 45402. You can also donate on-line by clicking on this link.

This effort is to replace the 2011 fifteen passenger van we currently have for our transportation vehicle. In particular, our senior adult program is in desperate need of better-quality transportation. The average age of our seniors is 78 years old and climbing in and out of the van is difficult and dangerous. You can check out the video by clicking here to see what we are talking about.

We have located a mini bus that does fit our needs and are in the initial stages of acquiring it. You can check out the pictures, but it is a 2019 never driven mini bus. It has 25 seats plus the driver. It is outfitted with guide rails for easy entrance and exiting plus a center rail to provide extra help should it be needed. We are so excited to finally address this barrier to program growth, comfort, and safety. So, if you want to Get on the Bus, there is plenty of room for you!!
