We finally took possession of our new customized 23-passenger plus driver minibus. Safety is the primary reason for a purchase like this. Being in a safe environment reduces stress and anxiety. For our Golden Age Senior Program, even if one of our client’s family or friend(s) can drive them to the Center, having options is a good thing. Having a premier safe option is the best thing and we are grateful this dream has come true.
This piece of equipment is a game changer for our Golden Age Senior Program. We move from the capacity of carrying 8 people to 23 (almost a 300% jump) and this will allow us to expand our program because the transportation barrier we have faced for so long is lowered quite a bit. We still offer door to door but not have to run 2 pickups and 2 drop offs to accommodate our program’s attendance volume. Finally, we have overcome our inadequate ingress of our 15-passenger van. Because the height of the van, a step stool is need which is an inconveniently high step for entry.
Our new minibus is set up for assisted entry and exit with low step up, handrails, and a center rail for moving into the seating area. We are very excited to get this minibus and very appreciative of those individuals and organizations who made this possible. Without their tremendous financial support our dream would still be just a dream.
