Verizon approves grant!!

Thank you, Verizon!!

Verizon approved our grant request for $10,000.  Maybe you have seen their ads about Technology. Education. Opportunity.  Verizon not only recognizes there is a connectivity gap but doing something to fill it.

The Dakota Center is just one of many places Verizon has put their money down backing up their words.  The Dakota Center especially wants to thank Ms. Krista  Bistline, State and Local Government Affairs, Public Policy, Law & Security. Ms. Bistline carried her passion to assist the Center’s effort straight through the approval process.  We are so excited about our new partnership and how we can both work together to get everyone connected.

Over the this past spring and summer, The Board of Directors of The Dakota Center committed to updating, upgrading, and expanding the IT infrastructure of the Center. They invested $30,000 to this effort. As of this post, now the entire interior area of the facility is covered with high-speed, secure, stable, and clean internet service.

Because of Verizon we are able to purchase a 32-port charging cart and ~20 Chrome Books. These new Chrome books will help our volunteers and staff improve learning by teaching our after-school students’ teamwork and collaboration while encouraging children to be curious and search for answers themselves.  Guided student collaboration is one of the benefits of Chromebooks.   They will also help us with better ways to find then deliver the little extra help for those who need it. With the addition of this piece of connectivity all the investment this past year is now complete.  Thank you, Verizon, for making a dream come true for the Center.
